Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin is coming to Mount Vernon and will hold a ceremonial bill signing for HB 304, the state’s annual transportation budget, on Monday. The bill includes funding that will be used to widen a section of I-75 in Rockcastle County. The stretch of interstate has been the source of multiple traffic backups and wrecks over the last years.
Bevin will be joined by State Representative Jonathan Shell and State Senator Jared Carpenter who led the charge to make the funding a part of the final version of the plan. “The I-75 problem is one that has negatively impacted the Rockcastle community, along with travelers from all over the country, for too long. It is also a source of concern in terms of economic development. I’m thrilled that we were able to secure this funding. Senator Carpenter and I look forward to welcoming Governor Matt Bevin to Rockcastle to mark this important step forward.” said Rep. Shell.
The bill signing will take at Limestone Grille, with I-75 as the background, at 10:30AM this Monday, May 9. The public is invited to attend.
