Did you hear the news? Today former State Representative John Arnold was cleared by the Legislative Ethics Commission of ethics charges that alleged he sexually harassed women on the legislative staff.
Politics as usual are alive and well in Frankfort. The lone member of the Legislative Ethics Commission who voted to excuse Arnold’s behavior, making the body fall short of the 5 needed votes to find guilt, was Elmer George.
Elmer George is a Democrat attorney who donated to Greg Stumbo’s statewide campaigns and was appointed by the Speaker to the ethics commission. In a news article, he said he did not make his decision based “solely” on politics.
I’m disappointed Mr. George chose not to hold Arnold responsible for his inappropriate actions – actions that lead to his resignation from office.
This is exactly why I, along with the House Republican Caucus, will be working hard this year to win a majority in the State House. We want to restore Kentucky’s faith and trust in “the People’s House.”
